"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."James 1:27 (NIV)
Tea Time
For the over 60s, Tea Time meets most weeks throughout the year providing companionship, various stimulating activities and a homemade tea.
Most of the members are from a church background and enjoy the celebrations at Christmas, Easter and Harvest and the regular 'gospel slot', especially those who can no longer get out regularly on their own.
Care Home Services
Part of 'caring in the community' is sharing our faith with older people. As a volunteer team we visit eight care homes most months. Christian input is important as many residents cannot go to church as they used to, so we take a service to them, as well as being a Christian witness to others.
We sing many well-loved hymns, say prayers and give a short talk from the Bible, focussing on the unconditional love of Jesus. Afterwards we stay and chat - this is especially welcomed by those who have few visitors.
