Derby City Mission are about to open the doors to a 24 hour service supporting Derby's entrenched homeless community.

Each day, there will be:

  • A medically trained practitioner to provide attention to minor injuries and first aid support after a drug/drink episode
  • Engagement coaches who will seek to find solutions to issues faced by the rough sleeping community
  • Workers from homeless outreach services who have already engaged with guests on the streets.

Derby City Mission’s core team have responsibility for drawing alongside this very vulnerable group of individuals and making them feel valued and loved.

One way we can demonstrate love is to provide structure and meaning to their day/evening and break through the boredom which often leads to drinking alcohol and taking drugs.

We would like to bless our guests with the following (list not exhaustive!):

  • Daily newspapers and magazines
  • An annual TV licence so that our guests can watch TV
  • A large screen TV with great sound to watch TV and listen to the radio
  • A collection of brand new books to build up a library of novels
  • Board games such as chess, cards, dominoes to encourage interaction and sociability
  • A computer for guests to use the internet to search for jobs
  • A collection of craft materials for painting, colouring, creating

This is an exciting time for us to work in partnership in our city to show Jesus in a practical way and demonstrate how His power and authority can make a difference.

If we have surplus to this appeal, we will use donations to pay for new items to be used during at our Nightshelters.

This appeal is kindly asking for monetary donations to purchase new items rather than second hand donations.

Thank you for your ongoing support for the homeless
