BECAUSE PRAYER CHANGES THINGS

What is Citywide Prayer?

Launched in March 2017 as a joint initiative with City Vision Churches, Citywide Prayer saw 1,500 people gather over four events in its pilot year.

Citywide Prayer is held on a Sunday evening once a quarter in a local city church, with the aim of covering our city, country and world with prayer.

Our last Citywide prayer was held on 4th February 2024; stay tuned to our social media accounts for details about our next event.

Christians from a wide range of church traditions, stand together in unity to pray and praise as one body of Christ.

Together, we celebrate through diverse worship styles; from dances by the National Liturgical Dance Network and choral singing by the Cathedral Choir, to sung worship accompanied by the harp and worship bands.

How do we pray?

Prayer has taken different formats. From corporate prayer, where people have prayed collectively in large groups, to the simple act of praying with

the person next to you, we have been aware of God’s presence as we pray for His will be to done and His name glorified in our city.

What an incredible time of prayer, the Holy Spirit was definitely among us

We have been able to pray for many different areas, including:

  • Slavery & People trafficking
  • New businesses in Derby
  • Schools, children in care, fostering and families
  • Government and other leaders during key worldwide elections
  • Our ministry areas including guests, clients and staff.

Let us pray together

This is the confidence that we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.1 John 5:14

Be encouraged to come to the next Citywide Prayer, invite your friends and bring your children too.
