Not deterred by a venue that was no longer available, YADA Dry Bar took on a new shape this autumn to be ‘Freshers ready’ for Derby University undergraduates.

Hosted in trendy coffee shop BEAR on Iron Gate, the focus of YADA didn’t alter in its new surroundings. Gathering there for the first time in October, the vision of creating an alcohol-free environment for a community of students and young professionals wanting to connect to form authentic relationships was ever-present.

With a strong core of people attending YADA and an online supporter base of over 250, we can safely say that the pilot year has been a success.

Whilst the team search for a new venue for 2019, Derby City Mission premises at St.Mary’s Gate has become a weekly meeting place for YADA to gather and ‘do life together’ with apres YADA and apres Alpha; small group sessions to explore Christianity together.

Please keep praying for the momentum of YADA, a new venue and its aim of helping young people stay connected to Christ Jesus.

- Project Update - 2020 - YADA Becomes YADA Collective CIC

In 2020/21 the YADA project was released with blessings from Derby City Mission to original founders of the project, Craig Picton and Rhondell Stabana.

Together with their team of staff and volunteers, they have now set up YADA as a stand-alone Community Interest Company called YADA Collective CIC.

They've settled in their own venue on Green Lane and continue to do fantastic work supporting those who have struggled with alcohol misuse, as well as facilitating other inclusive community-related projects, a movie bar, an online store for alternative drinks and more.
