Derby City Mission started the year with a Week of Prayer focussing on the verse  “For we walk by faith, not by sight” from 2 Corinthians 5:7.

Other Bible versions use the word live rather than walk; the walk is a metaphorical reference to the way a person conducts their life. The Apostle Paul reminds us that as followers of Christ we must not build our lives around things that have no eternal significance. Where are we putting our treasure?

Rather than pursuing the same things the world pursues, as Christians we should focus on the unseen realities such as our relationship with Jesus and people and of course heaven, our eternal home.

William Carey once said,

“Expect great things from God as we attempt great things for God”

As our team look at the priorities for this year, we remind ourselves that our journey is a journey of faith and our goal for this year, and every year, must be to please God.

Rather than loving the things of this world, Christians should spend their lives glorifying God in everything they do.  It requires faith to live in this way because we cannot see, hear, or touch anything spiritual without it.

As we attempt these great things; The Community Hub: to provide space to address causes Business Plan & Fundraising Strategy; Digital Presence;   School of Urban Missions, we need to learn to walk by faith and not by sight as all the above are daunting without God’s help.

Together we shall see His Kingdom expand, as we look to transform lives together.
