After such a long time of holding debt and advice clinics online and over the phone, due to the social distancing restrictions, next week will see the Jubilee Debt & Advice Clinics reopen in person across the city.

In 2020 Jubilee clients financially benefitted from over £1m through engaging with the support teams, by increasing and managing benefits and working with them to have debt written off. This year Derby City Mission are expecting a similar figure due to the overwhelming impact of the pandemic. Telephone clinics and online connections have increased weekly and there is over 50% increase of need on the Derby City Mission food bank provision.

Sarah Fowler, Head of Poverty Prevention at Derby City Mission says,

“While we have been able to continue our support to those struggling with financial difficulties over the phone and online, we know that being able to sit with someone and talk face to face, results in so much more. A relationship can be built, which in turn helps us to understand the needs of our clients better. We’re really looking forward to being in our community again.”

Derby City Mission partners with organisations across the city to host the clinics. The clinics are held weekly and they will reopen on the following dates:

Tuesday 8th June at 10:15 – 12:15 at St Peter’s Church, St Peters Street, Derby

Wednesday 9th June at 10:00 – 12:00 at St Augustine’s Church, Upper Dale Road, Normanton

Thursday 17th June at 9:30 - 11:30 at Osmaston/Allenton Children’s Centre, Cockayne Street North, Allenton (held fortnightly)

Thursday 24th June at 12:00 – 13:30 at Davenport Road Evangelical Church, Davenport Rd, Allenton
