Who we are Our Mission Mission TRANSFORMING LIVES TOGETHER WE EXIST TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF EVERY PEOPLE GROUP IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHURCHES AND OTHER AGENCIES BY DEMONSTRATING GOD’S LOVE AND BRINGING HOPE Who are we? Derby City Mission was established in 1989 by Geoff Holland. He was moved to action upon seeing the conditions that poverty brings – poor housing conditions, homelessness, hunger, debt, and addictions. His heart was to reach out to meet the spiritual, as well as the physical and material needs, of local people. Our mission remains unchanged: seeing our city and people flourish. We do this through our Christian faith and action, practically meeting the needs as we look to God for guidance in all we do. Uniquely, our strength comes from an army of over 150 volunteers who, often through the love of Jesus and strong compassion for the poor and most vulnerable, bring hope and support to those who need it most. From Jubilee debt advice clinics through to providing warm food and a safe place to sleep for the homeless, we aim to meet people wherever they are on their journey in life. We take a holistic approach in all we do so our partner churches and agencies are fantastic at supporting each client or guest, forging relationships and never giving up. We couldn’t transform lives without doing so in partnership. Getting help with my debt was only one part of the help I received. To be able to talk to someone when I couldn’t even admit to my family that I was struggling, gave me so much confidence. I felt so much better after a coffee and chat at the clinic Nikki, Jubilee Debt & Advice client Where have we come from? Read about our HISTORY What drives us?
