I am Ruth and I have worked with Derby City Mission since 2003 giving debt and benefit advice. Over the years, I have seen hundreds of people all with their own problems. So it’s quite likely that I have seen your mum, sister or friend in the past!

Nearly every time, it is possible to make a positive difference by working with someone to apply for or sort benefits and to find the best solution to their debts. That is why I still love doing this work because people tell me that they feel less stressed and anxious after getting help and that the Jubilee Project has had a big impact in changing their lives for the better. 

I love working with Sarah and the team, as well as the volunteers at the churches where we hold the clinics. They provide a warm welcome to people coming for the first time.

I also keep busy with gardening, the gym and helping with my tiny new grandson!
