Christmas is an exciting time for children. The hope and expectation of new toys, their heart’s desire, like their friends at school have - can put a lot of pressure on parents. One single mum last year said that she felt such a failure because she couldn’t afford to buy the gifts her children wanted. That’s where our Christmas Connection project comes in. We match the generosity of individuals,  Churches and local businesses with those families who are struggling by members and staff organising collections of new toys and gifts or individuals donating or buying a gift from our Amazon wish list, details of which can be found here.

We also partner with Derby Food for Thought Alliance to provide Christmas food parcels. Last year we provided present parcels for 850 children aged 0-17 years, and we expect demand to be even higher this year. We will gratefully accept donations up to 6th December 2022.

This year we’re asking parents to choose a category of a gift for one of the two main gifts in the parcel to give more dignity by aligning with the children’s interests. We always give the parents the present parcel unwrapped so that they can see the gifts their children will receive and share in the joy of giving. The parcels also include sweets, a cuddly toy for younger ones, an age-appropriate telling of the Good News, a book and creative toys to help the child’s development. The impact of your donations could last a lifetime.
