The simple answer is YES.  There are some volunteering roles that require training so that you are equipped before you embark on your volunteering journey but we can help you with that.

Volunteer form or you can keep a look out on our Job Opportunities page here.

Please note - Due to the nature and complexity of our work, we can only accept those over 18 years old to volunteer at Derby City Mission; thank you for your understanding.  For those under 18 who wish to support our mission, please consider joining with or undertaking your own fundraiser to raise vital awareness and finances.

As a first-timer I didn't really know what to expect. It was a very humbling and enjoyable experience. The organisation was first class and I feel that the Nightshelter programme makes a big difference. Thank you for the opportunity to help and I look forward to next year.

Will I make a difference?

From making someone a cup of tea or being a listening ear to sorting food at the warehouse or paperwork in the office, you WILL be making a difference.

Here's what our clients have said:

It was good because it has helped me a lot. I am now in a 3 bedroomed shared house, because the staff helped me. Guest from Guest Support.

To be able to talk to someone when I couldn’t even admit to my family that I was struggling, gave me so much confidence. Client from Jubilee Debt & Advice Clinic.

One of the Street Pastors gave me a pair of flip-flops to rest my feet! It may seem small to some people but just having a nice comfy pair of shoes to put on and some kind people listening to drunk crying about painful shoes was so much appreciated.  I hope you know that you are appreciated and admired. Night-time reveller.
