Street Pastors recently celebrated 10 years of serving our city -  listening, caring and helping - with a fabulous lunch at Angelo’s Bistro in Duffield, before ending the day with a Celebration Service at St. Werburgh’s.

Memories from the original management team and first shifts were shared by John Augustin and Carol Harper, and 4 Street Pastors still ‘on patrol’ ten years later were honoured for their dedication.

Eustace Constance, COO at Ascension Trust, and his wife Sharon came to support the team. Presenting a 10-year Appreciation Award, Eustace brought a powerful message about the God-given vision which led to the church taking to the streets and the subsequent impact and opportunities this has brought.  The Bishop of Derby, Right Rev’d Libby Lane shared her passion for the city and support for Street Pastors as she prayed for the new recruits commissioned on the night.

Representatives from Derby City Council were present and Assistant Chief Constable Kem Mehmet expressed immense gratitude on behalf of Derbyshire Police for the continued partnership of Street Pastors in the Night Time Economy, for their commitment, compassion and care for anyone needing help, which allows them to focus on criminality.

It was a truly wonderful event with a great ending as volunteers signed up for the anticipated launch of School & College Pastors in Derby in 2020. To God be the glory!
