Derby Street Pastors, operated through Derby City Mission, has been demonstrating God’s love in Derby’s Night Time Economy by listening, caring and helping those who find themselves in a vulnerable state since February 2009.

The Night Time Economy becomes busier during the lead-up to and over the Christmas and New Year period. Alongside this, there is an increase in the number of people we assist because they are drunk, suffering as a consequence of violence and being affected by mental health issues.

During shifts, we are increasingly meeting people of all ages struggling with past emotional trauma, depression, self-harm and thoughts of suicide. The Christmas and New Year period sees a peak in these mental health issues; we are thankful for the opportunity to comfort those in need. Please pray that in their sorrow, people will call out to God and experience his peace. Pray for protection and comfort for the Street Pastors who often hear and can be emotionally affected by the experiences and feelings that those they are helping share.

We Need More Street Pastors

We will be running a recruitment campaign and information events Friday 3rd & Wednesday 8th of March 2023, with venues to be confirmed. Do you or someone you know want to know more? Come along or visit the Street Pastors page of our website.

You can also contact us on: [email protected] to enquire about coming out on a shift as an observer, so you can
find out what it’s really like.
