Exciting times at Derby City Mission as work begins on our newest gem: the vibrant Community Garden! 

1. A Feast for the Eyes: Stroll through this picturesque haven, a treat for the eyes and a source of inspiration. Our garden isn't just a place; it's a living canvas that changes with the seasons, and it's poised to become a calming retreat for everyone who visits.

2. Gardening for All: We're thrilled to invite our clients, guests, and residents to dive into the world of gardening. From planting seeds to nurturing colourful blooms and even harvesting fresh vegetables, it's all about hands-on involvement.  But it's not just about plants. It's about cultivating a sense of purpose and pride, offering therapeutic benefits, and fostering a deeper connection to the earth and each other. 

3. Inclusive Delights: Our thoughtful garden design includes accessible features for everyone. Raised planters and benches at wheelchair-friendly heights ensure that every hand can join in the gardening fun. Plus, fragrant herbs and lavender create a sensory experience for all. It's about making our space a welcoming place for every member of our community. 

4. Al Fresco Oasis: Summer promises a delightful surprise as we're putting up a charming fence near the cafe. Imagine sipping your favourite brew at an outdoor table, surrounded by the sights and scents of our blossoming garden. It's a space where our guests can enjoy a meal outdoors, connect with others, or find solace in the midst of nature.

We're deeply grateful to the amazing team at B&Q Osmaston Road, Derby, led by the fantastic Sheena and James, who not only funded but also brought this vision to life.

The impact of this Community Garden extends beyond its physical beauty. It's a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together. Volunteers poured their hearts and time into its creation, and they'll continue to nurture it, creating a legacy of care and dedication.
