We are finally in! Despite the challenges presented by the Covid-19 crisis we were able to start moving our operations into our new hub building at 10 Normanton Road on the 29th May 2020, once the IT system was installed and the fire alarm system upgraded. Staff have now moved into their refurbished offices in line with the new work place protocols.

Community Hub

The majority of the work over the last three months has been focused on establishing a new facility for the Safe Space Project. This is now complete and will be occupied once the emergency provision for rough sleepers at the Holiday Inn Express ends. This work has cost £150,000 and has been partially funded by grants, but we are extremely grateful that a third of it has been funded by a multitude of generous donations from our supporters via the Build a Hub appeal. This fantastic facility includes new showers and toilets, staff offices, medical room, kitchenette, security and access system via a reconfigured entrance, as well as the rest and recovery area. As part of the build, a new hot water system has been installed that will also serve other future developments in the building.

In April we were delighted to receive a £50,000 grant from the Garfield Weston Foundation. This money is being targeted at two projects. Firstly, refurbishment of two of the three outbuildings which were effectively derelict. This has involved stripping everything out, re-instating mains water supply, rewiring and installing a new toilet and laundry facilities. Once complete, the Foodbank will be relocated into them from the rented warehouse and everything will be available on one site. Secondly, the grant will be used to refurbish the general toilet facilities in the main building. This is a key driver to providing first class facilities for all the community and support services we wish to run from 10 Normanton Road in the future.

You can support the next phase of developments at Normanton Road by making a donation to our "Build a Hub" appeal.
